Webb City beats Central in Class 4 Championship

ST. LOUIS (AP) - Quarterback Tyson Roderique ran for two scores and passed for another as Webb City won its fifth straight state title by defeating Central (Cape Girardeau) 48-21 in the Missouri Class 4 State Championship Game Saturday.

The state title was the 13th for the Cardinals tying Valle Catholic for the most in Missouri history. Kiante Hardin and Keaton Burroughs also had two touchdowns for Webb City, which finished 15-0 and has won 74 of its last 75 games.

Central (12-3) appeared poised to end Webb City's reign when Tigers quarterback Peyton Montgomery scored two short rushing touchdowns in the first quarter to put Central up 14-0.

But the Cardinals tied the game in the second quarter on two similar scores by Roderique. Webb City then scored twice in the last 35 seconds of the half on a 1-yard run by Keaton Burroughs and, after a Montgomery interception, a 30-yard strike from Roderique to Hardin to take a 27-14 lead into the intermission.
