Probation handed out for assaulting woman

A Jefferson City man was placed on five years supervised probation for assaulting the mother of his child with a knife in April.

James Ahhee, 43, pleaded guilty to second-degree domestic assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Charges of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon were dismissed.

The incident occurred in the 6900 block of Meadowbrook Drive.

A Cole County Sheriff's Department probable cause statement shows Ahhee got into a verbal argument with the female that lasted several hours.

The argument eventually turned into a physical fight where Ahhee told the woman he would kill her.

Ahhee grabbed the woman and the couple's 5-year-old child around their throats, then got a knife and cut the woman on her right calf and right foot. She required multiple stitches to close the wounds.
