Youth shares his blessings, makes donation

CALIFORNIA, Mo. -- A Prairie Home fourth grader took action to meet the Moniteau Christian Ministries Center (MCMC) theme of "Sharing Our Blessings" by donating to the Cargill Cares Food Pantry recently.

Henry Lieberman, 9, of Wooldridge, assisted his family in picking up 1,907 pounds of walnuts. He donated his share of $91 to the food pantry to purchase additional food to assist those in need.

The walnut collecting project has become a family tradition for the Lieberman family, and the Lieberman children choose the charity they would like to sent their donations to each year.

In the past, they have donated to the Cancer Society and Humane Society. Henry and his sister have a lemonade stand in the summertime. This year, they donated the lemonade stand funds to the Cancer Society in memory of a six-year-old friend named Allen.

"May we all experience life through the eyes and hearts of a child," said Barb Mannering of the MCMC, which is based in the town of California. "Great work Henry and thank you."
