Golden honored

COLUMBIA - Markus Golden was named Southeastern Conference defensive player of the week Monday after his two-sack, six-tackle performance against Tennessee on Saturday.

"It means a lot to me, man," Golden said Monday. "It means just a lot for the program. I'm just the one that gets to accept the award. We've got guys that are working hard. My "D-Line Zou' helped me get it and coach (Dave) Steckel and all of the coaches calling the plays, so it feels good just to be the guy to bring it home for the team."

Golden was also named Walter Camp Defensive Player of the Week on Sunday. He had two quarterback hurries and recovered a fumble on Saturday.

Golden is the second Missouri defensive end to win the award this year. Shane Ray was named SEC defensive lineman of the week three teams this year and defensive player of the week once.
