Public help needed to identify theft locations

Charges filed against suspect in Callaway County package thefts

Investigators are continuing to recover packages they believe were stolen by a suspect caught on video stealing from a home in Callaway County, but they need more help from the public.

According to officials with the Holts Summit Police Department, thanks to an observant resident, on Thursday, officers located numerous discarded shipping boxes and mailers belonging to victims of the recent thefts, but investigators believe there are likely more locations and are asking for the public's help.

Investigators are also still seeking victims, and they ask that anyone who has had packages or mail stolen to contact the appropriate law enforcement agency.

The prime suspect, John Jaegers, 43, was picked up Wednesday. Authorities also identified Sarah Miller of Jefferson City as being involved in these thefts.

Officers from Holts Summit contacted the Callaway County Sheriff's Department and the Jefferson City Police Department about these cases, and once in custody, Jaegers confessed to multiple thefts in those jurisdictions.

Authorities were led to Jaegers after one of his victims posted a video to Facebook after discovering a package that had been delivered to her residence was missing.

As of Friday, Jaegers is charged with four counts of misdemeanor theft in Cole County. No formal charges had been filed against Miller.
