Westminster duo honored

Washington, Robertson earn football awards

FULTON - Mike Washington and Bret Robertson were two of five players from the Westminster football team who received honors Wednesday from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

Washington, a wide receiver from Jefferson City High School, earned first-team All-UMAC honors after finishing the 2014 campaign with 60 receptions for 685 yards and six receiving touchdowns. Washington also ended the season ranked second in the league after averaging 68.5 receiving yards per game.

Robertson, a free safety from California High School, was placed on the defensive back's second team after compiling 66 tackles on the season. The junior also set Westminster's single-game record with 22 tackles in the season-opener against Hendrix. Robertson returned two interceptions 58 yards and forced three fumbles, while recovering two.

Westminster finished its season at 6-4 overall and tied for fourth in the UMAC with a 6-3 record.
