Unattended cooking causes JC house fire

Unattended cooking was the cause of a house fire that occurred Tuesday night in Jefferson City.

Fire department reports show the fire at 2123 Louis Drive was called in around 10:37 p.m.

The fire was contained to the kitchen, which suffered extensive damage, and there was smoke damage throughout the home.

The only resident at home at the time was able to get out safely.
