JC man arrested in connection with multiple theft cases

A Jefferson City man is facing charges for theft cases in multiple counties.

Authorities said John Jaegers, 43, was picked up Wednesday.

Officers from the Holts Summit Police Department contacted the Callaway County Sheriff's Department and the Jefferson City Police Department about these cases and once in custody Jaegers confessed to multiple thefts in the Jefferson City, Holts Summit and Callaway County areas.

Authorities were led to Jaegers after one of his victims posted video to Facebook after discovering that a package that had been delivered to her residence was missing.

While reviewing the video from her security system, the victim saw a vehicle driven by Jaegers pull into the driveway of her residence in Lake MyKee on November 18 at approximately 2:10PM. The video show Jaegers exit from his vehicle, walk up to the porch, pick up the package and then place the package in his vehicle. The video shows Jaegers then get back into his vehicle and drive away.

The victim posted the video to Facebook stating her children's Christmas gifts were in the package and asking for the public's help in finding the suspect.

Within hours of the video being posted it had been shared on Facebook hundreds of times.

Family members of Jaegers recognized him from the video and contacted the Holts Summit Police Department with information about where he could be found.

Anyone who has had any packages stolen recently is asked to contact the appropriate law enforcement agency in their area.
