3 arrested after vehicle pursuit

Three St. Louis residents are facing numerous charges after a car chase following a theft from a Jefferson City business on Wednesday.

According to police reports, at about 1:30 p.m. a theft from Dick's Sporting Goods in the Stoneridge Parkway Shopping Center was reported.

Based on witness descriptions, the suspect vehicle was located a short time later at West Main Street and West High Street.

As a police officer attempted to stop the vehicle for investigation, it swerved in an attempt to strike the patrol car.

The vehicle then fled the area going east on West Main.

The suspect vehicle continued east until reaching the Missouri River Bridge where it went north on U.S. 54 failing to yield to pursuing emergency vehicles.

Law enforcement agencies along the 54 corridor were notified for assistance.

Jefferson City officers remained in the pursuit until it was taken over by Holts Summit police and members of the Callaway County Sheriff's Department as well as the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The suspect vehicle continued north until it reached Fulton where tire spikes were deployed causing the vehicle to malfunction.

The suspects inside the vehicle were taken into custody and transported back to Jefferson City for further investigation.

Merchandise recovered inside the car was valued at over $3000.

Authorities did not release the names of the suspects, but did say they face charges such as felony stealing, assault on law enforcement, resisting arrest and numerous traffic related offenses.
