Glendale tops Helias in soccer quarterfinal

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Helias Crusaders got on the board first, but it was the Glendale Falcons who had the last laugh.

The Falcons closed the game with four unanswered goals to capture a 4-1 win against the Crusaders in a Class 3 quarterfinal soccer game Saturday.

Helias got the scoring started when Nathan Mercurio put one home six minutes in off an assist from Braden Remmert. That gave Remmert the school's career assist record with 28, breaking the mark of 27 set by his brother, Justin Remmert.

But it was all Glendale after that. The Falcons took a 2-1 lead into halftime and added a pair of second-half goals to clinch a spot in the Final Four.

Helias ends its season with a record of 11-14-2.
