Blue Tigers finish ninth at cross country championships

BOLIVAR, Mo. - Monique Thompson and Twishana Williams led Lincoln to a ninth-place finish at the 2014 MIAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

The 11-team race was held at Bolivar Municipal Golf Course.

Thompson finished the 6-kilometer race with a 20th-best time of 23:18.71 in the 90-runner field.

Williams, who had missed the previous four races with an injury, finished 27th in 23:42.52.

Willomena Williams (24:28.85) finished 55th overall, Akeeba Rose (26:13.02) finished 80th, Ebony Rose (26:57.34) finished 84th, Lovan Palmer (27:05.93) was 85th, and Juneille Barker (32:50.34) was 90th.

Lincoln will run in the NCAA Central Regional, hosted by Wayne State College on Nov. 22in Wayne, Neb.

Missouri Southern won the race with 44 points. Adelene Mengwasser (Chamois) finished 15th for the Lions. Lizzy Kirby (California) finished in 29th for Missouri Southern.

Emily Cumpton (Blair Oaks) came in 63rd for Southwest Baptist.
