Shea, Lady Crusaders win CC titles in Class 3 district

MOBERLY, Mo. - Kaitlyn Shea captured individual honors and Helias placed four other runners in the top 10 as the Lady Crusaders earned the team title Saturday at the Class 3 District 5 cross country meet.

Shea won in 18:59.20, while teammates Kayla Yanskey, Kylie Frank, Molly Light and Abby Hake all finished in the top 10 individuals.

The Lady Crusaders finished with 27 team points. Warrensburg was second with 76.

The Helias boys will also be making the trip to state after taking second Saturday with 82 points.

Elliot Knernschield took sixth in 17:05.40 to lead the Crusaders, while Thomas Asmar was eighth and Joe Bruemmer was 18th to help pace Helias.

Chase Cook and Ryan Bennett of Eldon, Maguire Scheer of Southern Boone and Brian Jordan of School of the Osage all placed in the top-15 in the boys race to qualify for state as individuals.

Gabriell Hill of School of the Osage will also make the trip to state as an individual after taking eighth in the girls race.

The Class 3 state championships will be held Saturday at Oak Hills Golf Center in Jefferson City.
