Missouri home sales fall slightly in September

According to recent Missouri REALTORS sales data, Missouri's real estate market experienced a slight decrease in total number of homes sold last month, which is expected for the early fall selling season.

September 2014 compared to September 2013 5,623 homes sold in September 2014, a slight decrease of 4 percent compared to 5,859 homes sold in 2013.

Homes sold at a bit of a slower rate last month than in September 2013, with the number of days a home sat on the market increasing by two days, from 122 days in 2013 to 124 days in 2014.

Both the average and median home prices increased in September. The average price rose 6 percent to $164,531, compared to $155,712 a year ago, and the median price of $134,900 was up 5 percent from $128,000 in 2013.

September 2014 compared to the previous month of August 2014 September showed a decline in home sales, with 5,623 homes sold, compared to 6,510 homes sold in August.

Homes spent an average of 124 days on the market, five days more than the 119 days on the market in August.

The average selling price of $164,531 for September decreased 6 percent from $175,090 in August.

The median price of $134,900 for September decreased 4 percent from the $141,000 median price in August.

Third Quarter 2014 compared to the same period in 2013 Third quarter saw a slight decline in home sales with 18,660 homes sold, compared to 19,851 in the same quarter of 2013.

Homes spent an average of 120 days on the market, a 2.4 percent reduction from the 123 days on the market in third quarter of 2013.

The average selling price of $173,475 for third quarter 2014 increased 5 percent over $165,413 in third quarter 2013.

The median price of $141,000 for third quarter 2014 increased 4.4 percent compared to $135,000 in third quarter 2013.

Third Quarter 2014 compared to the Second Quarter 2014 Third quarter showed a slight decrease of just 3.6 percent with 18,660 homes sold, compared to 19,366 in second quarter 2014.

Homes spent an average of 120 days on the market, decreasing 4 percent from the 125 days on the market in second quarter 2014.

The average selling price of $173,475 for third quarter 2014 increased 2.4 percent over the $169,489 of second quarter 2014.

The median price of $141,000 for third quarter 2014 increased just 1.4 percent compared to $139,000 in second quarter 2014.
