Jays, Lady Jays advance in Class 4 cross country

NIXA, Mo. - The Jefferson City Jays and Lady Jays will both field a full team at the Class 4 state cross country championships state both teams earned second-place finishes at the Class 4 Sectional 3 meet Saturday.

Jackson Schwartz and Kaley Ruff both turned in sixth-place finishes to pace the Jays and Lady Jays.

Schwartz finished the boys race in 15:52, while Ruff came in at 19:02.47. Kensi Gourley finished right behind Ruff for a seventh-place finish in 19:02.88.

The Jays finished with 99 points. West Plains was first with 36. The Lady Jays totaled 65 points, with sectional champ Raymore-Peculiar fiinshing with 45.

The top four sectional teams automatically advance to the state championships Saturday at Oaks Hills Golf Center.
