Fatima sweeps Class 2 team titles at district

LINN, Mo. - The Fatima boys and girls cross country teams both advanced to the state championships after the Comets and Lady Comets earned first-place finishes at the Class 2 District 4 meet Saturday.

Fatima freshman Brianna Haller took first in the girls race at 19:46.12, while Hunter Hennier led the boys with a first-place finish in 17:03.46.

The Lady Comets placed six runners in the top-10 to finish with 19 team points. Blair Oaks was second with 65 points.

Riley Caminiti took third, Madison Day was fourth, Anna Massman was sixth and Katie Fechtel finished ninth to lead the Lady Comets.

The Lady Falcons, who also qualified as a team for the state championships, were led by Taylor Scott's eighth-place finish.

Kristi Wortmann finished 10th and Kasey Kerperin took 13th to help pace Blair Oaks on the girls side.

Cody Huhn took fourth, while Alex Krieg was sixth, and Austin Muenks ninth for the Fatima boys, who finished with 30 points.

Linn took second with 66 points on the boys side to earn the Wildcats a spot at state. They were led by a ninth-place finish by Chase Jones and a 14th-place finish by Jacob Voss.

Adam Burkett of California qualified for state as an individual after turning in a second-place finish in the boys race.

Jason Otto and Nick Yaeger of Blair Oaks and Alex Thompson, Anthony Bertucci and Matthew Finger of Russellville also finished in the top-15 to earn a spot at the state meet.

Harley Nale of Linn and Katie Imhoff of California also qualified for state on the girls side after finishing fifth and 12th, respectively.

The Class 2 state championships will take place Saturday at Oak Hills Golf Course.
