BizBeat: Victoria's Bridal closes, but some brides still waiting

After announcing the decision mid-month, owner Ann Metternich closed Victoria's Bridal and Formal Wear Boutique in Jefferson City as October ended.

However, some customers are still waiting to receive dresses and accessories they ordered and paid for at the 722 Jefferson St. store. Three have contacted News Tribune and expressed uncertainty about how and when those products will be delivered, noting lack of communication from the bridal shop's staff, as well as a refusal to refund or discount orders due to the inconvenience.

Metternich previously said she was contacting each customer with an outstanding order individually to make arrangements for product delivery or pickup.

One customer said Victoria's staff had told her she could either pick up her dress at stores in Lebanon or Springfield or have it shipped to her home, neither of which were agreeable options for her. Last week, though, she arrived home to find the dress delivered via UPS and left on her front porch in the rain - no signature required - despite not having her shipping address verified by the store.

While these customers were able to obtain their dresses before the store's closure, other accessories like veils and additional dress pieces still have not arrived, and customers have only been told that they will be contacted when they have them.

Metternich declined to respond to the News Tribune's request for comment regarding the customers' complaints.
