BizBeat: Ross department store coming to Capital Mall

A Ross department store will be coming to Jefferson City's Capital Mall, as a corporate spokesperson from Ross Stores, Inc., has confirmed the national retail chain has signed a lease at the location.

"It's going to be a tremendous addition to the property," said Rob Kingsbury of Farmer Holding Company, which owns Capital Mall. "It's really a result of a lot of hard work from everyone involved, which includes all of the city's leadership who helped us in the pursuit."

The Jefferson City Council approved the Capital Mall property as a tax increment financing district and community improvement district in January of this year in an effort to reverse deterioration of the property by supplementing Farmer Holding Company's investment with additional funding for certain renovations.

"We're so excited to welcome Ross, which is a well-recognized national retailer that is not only going to provide jobs but give Jefferson City residents another great shopping location," Kingsbury said. "This is just one small step in the overall redevelopment."

No estimated opening date nor further details have been released at this time.
