2 area residents hurt in accidents

A Fulton man was injured in a two-car accident at 11:15 a.m. Thursday on U.S. 54 at Interstate 70 in Callaway County.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, driven westbound by Lea C. Bright, 22, Centralia, struck a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven westbound by Jean A. Kachikis, 76, Fulton, in the rear while the Kachikis vehicle was stopped.

A passenger in the Kachikis vehicle, Harry D. Kachikis, 71, Fulton, was taken to University Hospital in Columbia.

Everyone was wearing a seat belt.

A Laurie woman was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 2:37 p.m. Thursday on Route P at Morgan Hills Road in Morgan County.

The patrol reported a 1996 Honda CBR motorcycle, driven eastbound by Peter G. Fox, 41, failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the center line, traveled off the left side of the road and struck a utility pole support, ejecting Fox and a passenger, Candelaria W. Stacy, 34, Laurie.

Stacy was taken to Lake Regional Hospital.

Both were wearing safety devices.
