MoDOT to host forum on expressway project

The Missouri Department of Transporation (MoDOT) will hold a briefing Thursday to discuss how traffic will be managed during improvements to the Whitton Expressway in Jefferson City.

The briefing will be from 4-6 p.m. in Pleus Hall of the Immaculate Conception Church, 1206 E. McCarty St.

The public may come anytime, and various project displays will be available at the hearing. Formal presentations are scheduled for 4:30 and 5:15 p.m.

The proposed improvements include a new interchange at U.S. 50 and Lafayette Street and adding a lane in each direction from Monroe Street to Lafayette Street and from Lafayette to Clark Avenue. Five bridges along the corridor will be replaced and one will be rehabilitated.

Work on the project is planned to start by the end of the year.
