BizBeat: Wellness center to close its current physical location

Therapeutic Touch Wellness Center, 1128 Jefferson St., will officially be closing its doors at the end of this week on May 31, but will continue to serve Jefferson City area clients through a booking service.

Owner Gloria Baker said in an early March interview that she hoped to sell the business - building, property and most contents. That way she can to focus on serving her clients and spending more time with her family. After a few months on the market, the building and property will be sold through an estate liquidation sale.

Although the business will no longer be housed in one building, many of the licensed massage therapists will still serve clients throughout the city. Baker will act as a booking service for massage therapists, and will keep the same phone number for clients to easily stay in touch. Baker said she will definitely still be practicing, but is relocating her services to Taos, which was part of her original plan in selling the Jefferson Street business.

Therapeutic Touch and its staff would like to thank everyone who has visited the wellness center throughout the past seven years.

"Thank you for letting us take care of your body's needs," Baker said.

"Even though you may have walked in as a client needing some sort of pain relief, you walked out as a wonderful friend and part of the TTWC family."

The business will honor any gift cards or credit, but in various locations. Baker said two of her therapists are even ready to travel, doing in-house care known as out-call massage. Some clients even prefer this, Baker said, as its more convenient to be in your own home.

The Jefferson City wellness center will have its last day of business on Saturday, but will still honor appointments elsewhere. An open house will be held on June 2, prior to the June 9-10 sale where equipment, household items, tables and more will be available for purchase. An auction will be held June 11 for the building and property.

Baker said her hope is that the sale will bring enough money to get rid of the overhead costs so she can continue doing what she loves.
