BizBeat: Restaurant to fill downtown space

Lawyer and entrepreneur Sam Trapp is adding another business in Jefferson City to his plate. The owner of Zesto on Broadway, as well as a new restaurant named Trappers, located at the Lake of the Ozarks, Trapp plans to open Trappers Too in Jefferson City. The restaurant will be located at 306 E. High St., the former home of Morgan's Grill.

"I was actually trying to get in that space before Morgan's Grill did," Trapp said. Now that the building is available again, he has secured a lease and has already begun remodeling the space.

As the owner of Zesto, Trapp said he's really enjoyed having that iconic business. He will try his hand at this downtown location, serving up some similar options. Trappers Too will offer breakfast, lunch and light dinner options. It will also serve some alcohol beverages, including fruity "trapp-ical" drinks, Trapp said.

"It will be a quicker lunch service," the owner said, serving up hot and cold sandwiches, deep fried items and burgers.

Trapp said he's also excited to bring the dessert option to the downtown restaurant. Trappers Too will have ice cream, banana splits and more.

Because there is just a bit of redecorating that has to be done, the business owner hopes to be open by June 15, but Trapp said it may end up being closer to early July.
