One of two suspects in locker thefts arrested

One of two Georgia men charged in connection with thefts from lockers at Weber Field House at Jefferson City High School in October 2013 has been taken into custody.

Ryan Peary, 19, is charged with one count of second-degree burglary and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing next month. A request to reduce his $50,000 bond was denied.

Dion Peary, 23, is also charged in this case and has not been located.

Both men fled to Illinois after the break-in occurred.

Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements show the two men entered the fieldhouse during a cross country meet and football game Oct. 21.

Dion was seen on video surveillance removing bolt cutters from his vehicle and using the cutters to cut the locks off lockers and steal 12 cell phones.

Dion was expelled from Westminster College in Fulton for stealing from the locker room there.

Comparing video from both schools, authorities identified Dion.

Ryan's cell phone was pinged and located in Peoria, Illinois.

A search of Craigslist by authorities found two ads that listed Ryan's cell phone number as selling iPhone 4s and iPhone 5s, which were among the phones taken in the Jefferson City break-in.

Both defendants also were found to have cut locks off lockers at all three Jefferson City YMCA locations.

They had to show their IDs to get a day pass to gain access to the locker rooms.

Authorities said both men have no ties to the Jefferson City area.
