Last Nebraska power line easement meeting Thursday

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - The last of three public meetings about the easements needed for a new high-voltage transmission line in southeast Nebraska will be held on Thursday.

The Omaha Public Power District must negotiate with property owners in the power line's path to acquire easements in Otoe, Nemaha and Richardson counties.

Construction of the 180-mile line transmission line is set to begin in summer 2015. It will connect a substation at OPPD's Nebraska City power plant to a substation near Sibley, Missouri.

The utility already held public meetings in Nebraska City and Falls City earlier this week. The final meeting will run from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the county fairgrounds 4-H building in Auburn
