Cook-off raises $20,000 for Special Learning Center

The Eighth Annual Capital City Cook-Off held late last month raised $20,000 for the Special Learning Center (SLC), a United Way of Central Missouri partner agency that provides services for children with developmental disabilities.

Since 2007, the annual event has raised more than $100,000 for the SLC. The money is used for program services.

The event includes a Buck-A-Bone BBQ Rib competition, with various businesses and organizations competing for the best ribs. Receiving awards were: Winge Masonry, first place; Prison Brews, second place; Fechtel Beverage, third place; and Budweiser BBQ, fourth place.
