5 injured in area accidents

A Fulton man was injured in a one-car accident at 12:10 a.m. Tuesday on Route WW at Blackthorn Lane in Boone County.

According to the Highway Patrol report, a 2002 Mazda Protege, driven eastbound by Jason D. Hartinger, 23, traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected and traveled off the left side of the road, striking an embankment.

Hartinger was taken to University Hospital in Columbia. It is not known if he was wearing a seat belt.

• Three Eldon residents were injured in a one-vehicle accident at 3:40 p.m. Monday on Old Tuscumbia Road, north of Tensert Road, in Miller County.

The patrol reported a 1995 Ford Explorer, driven southbound by Christopher R. Acs, 32, became airborne due to excessive speed over a hilltop. Acs lost control and the vehicle overturned several times.

Acs and a passenger, Samantha D. Duncan, 28, were taken to University Hospital in Columbia. Another passenger, Kyle S. Pitman, 19, was taken to Capital Region Medical Center.

No one was wearing a seat belt.

• A Jamestown man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 5 p.m. Monday on Missouri 179, south of Heartland Ridge, in Cole County.

According to the patrol report, a 2000 Ford utility truck, driven northbound by Tanner L. McBroom, 24, was stopped for a school bus unloading children and was struck in the rear by a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado, driven northbound by John O. Goetter, 65.

Goetter who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to University Hospital in Columbia.

McBroom was wearing a seat belt.
