Pritchett lifts Blair Oaks to 2-1 win vs. S. Callaway

EUGENE - Blair Oaks didn't exactly have an electric day at the plate.

The Falcons didn't need to.

Bryce Pritchett threw a complete-game one-hitter as top-seeded Blair Oaks held on to claim a 2-1 victory against No. 4 South Callaway in a Class 3 District 13 semifinal game Monday.

Pritchett, who didn't allow an earned run, struck out five and walked one in seven innings. The junior right-hander threw 93 pitches - 66 for strikes.

Pritchett was also 1-for-3 and drove in a run, while Hayden Haney added a hit and an RBI to lead Blair Oaks at the plate.

Logan Bax, James Reinkemeyer, Brent Heckemyer and Seth Eskens all added a single to help pace the Falcons on the offensive end.

Troy Hentges had the only hit for South Callaway (17-6), which committed two errors.

Blair Oaks got on the board first when Pritchett singled to right to score Logan Gratz from third to give the Falcons (22-8) a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.

Both teams struggled to get anything done offensively until Hentges led off the top of the fifth with a double and came around to score on an error to tie the game at one.

The Falcons had an answer.

Bax led off the bottom of the frame with a single to center field and eventually scored on an RBI single by Haney to give Blair Oaks a 2-1 cushion.

That's all the run support the Falcons needed.

Smith Kempker received the loss after allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits, while striking out seven and walking two in six innings.

Blair Oaks will play third-seeded Fatima (18-9) in the district championship game for the third straight year at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Eugene.
