Graduation coordinator Kim Luetkemeyer distributed red roses to the 63 Eugene High School graduates, including Samantha Suess, as part of commencement preparation Sunday.

By the time Eugene High School's 63 graduates walked into the gym to the traditional "Pomp and Circumstance," they had personalized their caps, sent photos with friends in their black and white gowns and had received their honorary cords and sashes.

They each carried at least one red rose, which they personally delivered to mothers, grandmothers, friends and teachers.

The second of nine children, Caden Baur gave his rose to his mother, Jennifer.

"I'm just ready to get out of here," said Baur, who already has a job at Miller Iron and Metal in Brazito.

Classmates Jacob Schwaller and Austin Russell were a bit more nostalgic about graduation day.

"There's a sense of accomplishment," Schwaller said.

Russell added, "And we made it as a class."

A tight-knit class with a majority of the students in the schools system since elementary, valedictorian Koby Limbach in his speech referred to the Class of 2014 as a family.

"It's pretty cool," Schwaller said. "We call everyone "friend.'"

Leslie Wrinkles decorated her cap by having all of her classmates sign it.

"It's kind of like my yearbook," she said.

Other students chose motivational sayings, animal print, sequins and college mascots for their caps.

As they marched in, proud parents and smiling friends cheered, waved, whooped and took pictures.

Seniors Logan Mize, Austin Larsen and Daniel Love share the acoustic song "Swing Life Away," before salutatorian Garrett Crouse and Limbach delivered their addresses.

After reflecting on pranks, wacky behavior and other class memories, Crouse share some advice.

"Do not limit yourself" and "accept the adventure ahead of you."
