Man receives probation on drug charge

A Jefferson City man was placed on five years supervised probation for pleading guilty to a charge of distribution of a controlled substance after finding several pounds of marijuana and thousands of dollars in the man's car and home in November 2012.

Clayton A. Schaben, 23, was stopped near West Stadium Boulevard and Hyde Park Road.

After making contact with Schaben, the smell of marijuana was detected from inside the vehicle by the trooper.

A search of the vehicle revealed about a half-pound of marijuana.

After a search warrant was obtained for Schaben's residence, about 15 pounds of marijuana, distribution materials and more than $50,000 in cash were found.
