Helias slips past Rolla in battle of ranked teams

ROLLA - Kaysie Scheuler scored with six minutes left in the second half Thursday night to lift the Helias Lady Crusaders to a 1-0 victory against the Rolla Lady Bulldogs in a matchup of top-five Class 2 teams.

Jordan Poire picked up an assist on the score. Sydnee Kliethermes got the shutout in goal against the Lady Bulldogs, the No. 4-ranked team.

The Lady Crusaders (15-8-1, ranked No. 5) is the No. 1 seed in next week's Class 2 District 10 Tournament at Bolivar. Helias will face either Battle or Marshfield at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the district semifinals. Second-seeded Bolivar and third-seeded Rolla will meet in the other semifinal at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

The title contest is set for 6 p.m. Thursday.

Helias won Thursday's JV game 4-2. Julie Harris had two goals for the Lady Crusaders, while Maggie Kehoe and Sarah Pierle had one each. Helias ends the JV season at 12-1-3.
