Jays sweep Tigers in doubleheader

The Jefferson City Jays swept a sophomore-freshman doubleheader Wednesday from the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Tigers.

The Jays won the sophomore game 12-2. Taylor Hartman was the winning pitcher, striking out eight in four innings. Blaine Meyer worked in relief. Bryce Beckley had three hits to lead the Jays. Austin Mell, Meyer and Kyle Irwin all had two hits.

The Jays won the freshman game 13-4. Allan Roettgen was the winning pitcher. Grant Wood had a home run, while Cole Aherns and Roettgen had two hits each.

The two teams finish the season with a combined record of 30-4.
