MOBERLY - Gannon Withers and Tanner Grace of New Bloomfield earned spots in the Class 1 state golf tournament with their performances Monday in sectionals at Heritage Hills Golf Course.
Withers shot an 89 to tie for 12th, good enough to advance to the state tournament May 19-20 at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield. Grace carded a 96 to tie for 18th. The top 12 individuals not on qualifying teams advance to the state tournament.
Ridge Martin of New Bloomfield tied for 29th.
LaPlatta (336) and Father Tolton (337) finished 1-2 to advance as teams to the state tournament. Ben Bolden of La Plata and Jack Parker of Father Tolton shared medalist honors at 76.
