Calvary splits Saturday doubleheader in Belle

BELLE, Mo. - The Calvary Lutheran Lions split a Saturday afternoon doubleheader with Belle and Plato.

Calvary claimed a 7-6 win against Belle in the opener, but fell 13-3 to Plato in the nightcap.

Hance Sommerer hit a two-run home run, while Tristan Clementich was 2-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Lions at the plate in Game 1. Bradely MacLaughlin and Gavin Nutt both had a hit and an RBI to help pace Calvary on the offensive end.

Wyatt Archer threw a complete game to get the victory in the opener. The junior allowed six runs (four earned) on seven hits, while walking two and striking out four in seven innings.

Clementich was 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Beau Monson was 2-for-3 and Trevor Dusheke chipped in with an RBI to lead the Lions in Game 2.

Calvary (13-5) will host New Bloomfield on Monday.
