Blair Oaks freshmen take fifth at baseball tourney

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Falcons earned a fifth-place finish after claiming an 8-6 win against Hickman in the final round of the Columbia Freshmen Tournament on Saturday.

Blair Oaks also wrapped up its season with a 23-7 record.

Mason Gipe was 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Kade Franks hit a two-run triple to help lead the Falcons at the plate.

Thomas Versules had two hits and drove in a run, while Ben Fork added a hit and an RBI. Ryan Paschal, Jason Rackers and Tyler Swehla each chipped in with a hit to help lead the offensive attack for Blair Oaks.

Swehla was credited with the win, allowing one run in 1 1/3 innings.

Franks recorded the save after throwing a scoreless seventh inning without allowing at hit.

Paschal allowed five runs on five hits, while walking two and striking out five in 4 2/3 innings.
