Jays frosh win two

COLUMBIA - The Jefferson City Jays swept two games Friday in the Columbia Freshman Tournament.

Jefferson City defeated Boonville 6-2 to start the day. Taylor Hartman went the distance to get the victory, striking out 10.

Bryce Beckley had three hits, one a home run, for the Jays. Allan Roettgen also had three hits in the win. Gunner See, Dave Rogers and Gavin Strobel had two hits each.

Jefferson City then blanked Southern Boone 11-0. Brandon Williams pitched the first six innings, with Logan Schmitz working the seventh.

Beckley had three hits. Rogers, Williams, Strobel and Garrett Durbin all added two hits. One of Strobel's hits was a home run.

Jefferson City will face Rock Bridge for the tournament title at 4 p.m. today at Battle High School.
