Octogenarian spouses killed in southeast Mo. crash

CHARLESTON, Mo. (AP) - An octogenarian Charleston couple is dead after a car crash with a teen driver in southeast Missouri.

The state Highway Patrol reports that 84-year-old Nina Marshall and her husband Alfred, also 84, were killed after a 17-year-old driver swerved to avoid another vehicle ahead of him that was attempting a left turn on State Route 105 near East Prairie on Wednesday afternoon.

Troopers say Charles M. Ross collided with the couple's car, which was traveling in the opposite direction.

Alfred Marshall, his wife's passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. Nina Marshall died at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. Ross suffered moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Sikeston hospital.
