Flames had engulfed a Cole County trailer home early Thursday before firefighters could arrive.
The Regional West Fire Protection District was called around 12:15 a.m. to respond to the blaze near Elston.
When firefighters arrived at 5819 Elston Road, they found flames consuming the home.
The cause of the fire was not known, but fire officials said there was nothing suspicious about the fire.
The homeowner said he noticed flames coming from the breaker panel of the home. He tried to put it out himself, but couldn't. By the time he called 911, the fire had spread throughout the home.
No injuries were reported.
Firefighters were able to save a nearby trailer home, which was being threatened by the fire.
