I would like to commend Kris Hilgedick for the May 4 very interesting and informative article , "A Constitutional Duel."
I started to read this not because I wanted to but because I thought that I should know what's going on with the Missouri legislature and their boneheaded maneuvering to ignore federal gun laws.
Two sentences in, however, I was hooked on the history of this controversy, fascinated to learn about the grappling for power among the branches and between the states and the federal government. I came to believe, based on this article, that the argument for states' rights versus federal power is a debate worth having.
Even though I disagree with Missouri's position in this particular debate, I completely support our right to argue it, and to constantly try to keep the powers in check. Thank you for the well written and timely information.
