Jays hold off Rock Bridge in 13 innings

COLUMBIA - It took Jefferson City 13 innings, but the Jays were eventually able to get the job done Tuesday night.

Jefferson City scored seven runs in the final two innings and the Jays held on to claim a 10-7 win against Rock Bridge.

Jefferson City was outhit 10-9, but the Jays took advantage of four Bruin errors - all coming in the top of the 13th.

Adam Grunden hit a two-run home run, while Jake Walker and Hayden Strobel each added a hit and two RBI to lead Jefferson City at the plate. Brenden Ogletree connected with a solo home run to help pace the Jays offensively.

Travis Hennessy received a no-decision despite allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits, while striking out four and walking two in eight innings.

Bret Jaegers threw three innings, allowing one run. Jacob Weirich picked up the win after allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits in one inning.

Jake Walker pitched a scoreless frame in the 13th without allowing a hit to close out the game.

Jefferson City (19-5) will play today at Quincy.
