Blair Oaks freshmen split

SOUTHERN BOONE - The Blair Oaks Falcons split with Southern Boone on Tuesday.

Blair Oaks claimed a 7-4 victory in the opener, before falling 4-2 in Game 2.

Kade Franks earned the win for the Falcons in Game 1, allowing one hit and no runs, while striking out six in four innings.

Thomas Versules allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits in 1 1/3 innings. Tyler Swehla didn't allow a hit or a run and struck out four in 1 2/3 innings to close the door on Southern Boone.

Mason Gipe had three hits, including a solo home run, while Ryan Paschal and Jason Rackers both had three hits and one RBI to lead Blair Oaks at the plate. Ben Fork and Franks both had two hits and an RBI to help pace the Falcons.

Cole Sandbothe and Gipe both had hits to lead Blair Oaks in the nightcap.

The Falcons (21-6) will play at 2 p.m. Friday in the first round of the Columbia Freshman Tournament at Rock Bridge High School.
