BizBeat: 2 Broke Girls clothing now open

A new resale shop has opened in Jefferson City off Ellis Boulevard, featuring women's and children's gently used clothing and accessories.

New Bloomfield sisters Stacey and Shelley Bailey have been working to open the store for nearly two years. Just over a week ago, their planning paid off and the store officially opened under the name 2 Broke Girls. The store is located at 510 Ellis Blvd., Suite C, in the shopping plaza across from the Firley YMCA.

Open Monday through Saturday, the store buys and sells gently-used, name-brand items. The store purchases pieces during regular store hours, until one hour before close. Sellers can get a cash amount for their goods, or a slightly higher amount of store credit.

Stacey said the store appreciates sellers to bring their clothes folded neatly in baskets or boxes, or on hangers. This helps the process go much smoother. Items need to be clean with no spots. 2 Broke Girls accepts and sells all sizes of juniors and women's clothing, shoes, and purses, as well as children's and baby clothing and shoes. Other baby toys and kids items are also for sale.

Shoppers will find the women's items on the first floor, with the downstairs dedicated to the children's items. Wednesday nights will feature the "Mommy & Me" special, where customers can spend $40 in either section and receive a $10 credit to the other section. This is something the owners hope to continue each Wednesday. A grand opening and Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting are also planned in the coming weeks.
