Shock detention ordered for dealing drugs

A Jefferson City man who pleaded guilty to one count of distributing narcotics has been sentenced to 120 days shock detention.

Deandre L. Grover, 35, was charged after the Jefferson City Police Department's community action team served a narcotics search warrant in July 2013 as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale of narcotics from his residence.

One count of possession of drug paraphernalia was dismissed.

Authorities said the initial search revealed limited evidence.

However, the department's K-9 "Buzz" was able to locate approximately a half pound of marijuana and more than $800 in cash hidden in a closet and in a locked safe.

The marijuana was packaged for sale and bundled with the money.
