Police join DWI campaign for young drivers

Prom and graduation season are here, and Jefferson City police have announced they will join other Missouri law enforcement agencies to crack down on drunken driving among youths starting today and running through May 12.

Authorities said it is illegal for someone under the age of 21 to possess or consume alcohol in Missouri, yet young drivers make up a significant percentage of drunken drivers causing traffic crashes on Missouri roadways. Missouri has a zero tolerance law; if you are under the age of 21 and you're caught driving with even a trace of alcohol in your system, your license can be suspended.
