JC man sentenced to 10 years on burglary charges

David Ingram Jr., 25, 215 Lafayette St., pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree burglary, five counts of second-degree burglary and one count of stealing a firearm. The incidents occurred between Sept. 6 and 18.

Court documents show Ingram admitted to stealing a laptop computer, backpack and cash from a residence in the 2600 block of Jennifer Drive by entering through an unsecured door.

He also admitted to taking two laptop computers from a building in the 700 block of East High Street after authorities drove him to the location where he pointed out the door he entered through, which was unlocked at the time.

Ingram is also accused of cutting the screen out of the window of a residence in the 700 block of East High Street and taking several DVDs and a cellphone.

Ingram admitted to selling the DVDs at Hastings on Missouri Blvd.

Ingram also said he cut the screen and broke a window at a building in the 700 block of East Capitol Avenue to steal a Sony Dictaphone and cash.

He admitted to breaking into another building in the 700 block of East Capitol where he stole three overhead projectors and two laptop computers.

Ingram also showed authorities how he broke into a residence in the 200 block of Pierce Street and took a firearm, firearm accessories and cash by entering through a window.

He also broke into a home on Schaefer Court while the victims were inside sleeping, taking a 1917 $1 bill from the residence and later pawning it at a local shop.

Most of the items Ingram admitted to taking were recovered.
