Blue Tigers win eight events

ST. LOUIS - The Lincoln Blue Tigers opened the outdoor season by winning eight events Friday and Saturday at the Billiken Kickoff hosted by Saint Louis University.

Khorey Spalding took two of the titles for Lincoln, winning the men's 100- (11.37) and 200-meter (22.62) dashes. Roger Blake was first in the 400-meter dash (48.88), while Jermaine Blake won the 800-meter run (1:57.60). Lincoln swept the hurdles events - Stallone Watson in the 110-meters (15.30) and Winston Edwards in the 400-meters (54.36).

Hampton Mayson took the title in the discus with a toss of 135 feet, 5 inches, while finishing second in the shot put at 41 feet, 5 inches.

Lincoln is back in action Friday and Saturday at the Washington University Invitational in St. Louis.

Griff McCurren of Saint Louis University finished third in the 400-meter dash in the Kickoff.

McCurren (Helias High School) finished with a time of 50.94. The freshman also was fourth in the 200-meter dash (23.63).
