Russellville opens baseball season with split

ROLLA, Mo. - The Russellville Indians split their season-opening doubleheader Saturday.

Russellville fell to Rolla 7-0 before bouncing back with a 8-2 win against Union.

Clayton Meyer allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits, while striking out nine and walking two in the complete-game victory.

Caleb Harrison tallied five hits and drove in two runs on the day to lead the Indians at the plate. Chase Smith had two hits and two RBI, while Alex Thompson and Meyer both tallied two hits in the win.

Smith received the loss in the opener after allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and six walks.

Russellville (1-1) will play Tuesday at Vienna.
