Missouri stays undefeated in softball tournament

COLUMBIA, Mo. - No. 18 Missouri earned two wins on Saturday at the Mizzou Tournament, defeating North Dakota State 11-2 in five innings, before holding off Oklahoma 2-1.

Mackenzie Sykes tallied four RBI, while Emily Crane was 3-for-5 on the day to help lead the Tigers, who improved to 21-7 overall and 3-0 at the event at University Field.

Casey Stangel (10-4) allowed two runs on nine hits and struck out three in five innings for Missouri in the opener.

Tori Finucane (9-3) threw a complete-game, allowing one run on five hits and struck out nine to lift the Tigers past the Sooners in the nightcap.

Missouri will take on UMKC at 2:30 Sunday to conclude the tournament.

Senior Mackenzie Sykes went 3-for-4 and recorded a career-high five RBI, powering No. 18 Missouri to a six-inning 11-3 victory against Ball State in the first round Friday.

Stangel worked out of a jam in the opening frame, allowing just two runs to cross the plate despite the first two Cardinal betters reaching base. Stangel grinded through four innings in the circle, striking out two, to earn the win.
