A Jefferson City man has been charged after authorities found a large amount of marijuana at his residence Tuesday.

Ronald Russell, 59, of 126 Marshall St., was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute as well as unlawful possession of a firearm.

Authorities served a search warrant at Russell’s residence and found a toolbox in a bedroom which had a shoebox containing about 44 grams of marijuana.

In a bedroom, they also found a gallon-size bag of marijuana with approximately 455 grams, or nearly one pound of marijuana.

A .32-caliber handgun was found under a pillow on a bed.

Another small bag of marijuana was found in the living room, a partial box of sandwich bags, a digital scale and money.
