Struemph tosses two-hitter

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Erin Struemph continues to dominate at the collegiate level.

Struemph (St. Elizabeth High School) threw a complete-game shutout, allowing two hits in seven innings, as Missouri State topped Missouri-Kansas City 3-0 in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Struemph, a freshman, also struck out nine and walked two in her 10th start this season. The 6-foot-1 right-hander also has three saves and has compiled a 1.92 ERA in a team-leading 73 innings for the Bears.

Struemph (7-3) struck out at least one batter in each inning Wednesday, and neither hit she issued left the infield. Her nine strikeouts were one shy of her season high.

Missouri State improved to 18-8 after picking up a 4-2 win in Game 2. The Bears will host Bradley at 4 p.m. today.
