Lincoln men finish eighth in tournament

TOPEKA, Kan. — Four Lincoln golfers turned in sub-80 scores in the final round Tuesday as the Blue Tigers finished the Washburn Invitational in eighth place.

Brian Lillevold led Lincoln, taking eighth-place overall with a three-round total of 219 — the fifth-best score by an Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association golfer.

Kenny Conrad carded a 231 to place 39th individually, while Nick Goeke took 48th with a three-round total of 234 to help lead Lincoln, which tallied a team score of 922.

Blake Lammers tied for 63rd with a 238, while Steven Mallow finished 82nd after posting a 253 to round out the field for the Blue Tigers, who had the third best team score by an MIAA program.

Central Oklahoma posted a team score of 875 to win the tournament. Lindenwood (883), Henderson State (887), Iowa Western Community College (889) and Southwest Oklahoma State (893) rounded out the top five teams.

Lincoln will have two weeks off before its next tournament, the Broncho Invitational from March 31-April 1.

That tournament will be an MIAA-designated event, hosted by the University of Central Oklahoma.
