Tigers accept invitation to NIT, will host Davidson

COLUMBIA - After missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2008, the Missouri Tigers will play in the National Invitation Tournament.

Missouri (22-11) is the No. 2 seed in the Minneapolis Region and will host seventh-seeded Davidson (20-12) at 8 p.m. Tuesday (ESPN2-TV) at Mizzou Arena.

It's Missouri's first NIT appearance since 2005, when the Tigers dropped a 75-70 decision to DePaul at Mizzou Arena. Missouri is just 1-7 all-time in the NIT, with its lone win coming against Murray State (89-85) in 1996.

Davidson claimed an automatic berth into the NIT by winning the Southern Conference regular-season title with a 15-1 record. The Wildcats fell 99-97 in overtime to Western Carolina in the conference tournament semifinals.

Davidson is 2-1 all-time against Missouri.

Tickets are $10 for the general public, $5 for students. Prices are set by the NCAA Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets online at mutigers.com/buytickets. Tickets will also be available Tuesday night outside Mizzou Arena.

The Missouri-Davidson winner will square off against the winner of the Toledo-Southern Mississippi game played Wednesday night in Hattiesburg, Miss. The host, game time and date for that game will be announced at a later date.
